I’m not so much the routine kinda girl. I love to have change and a big variety all the the time. So breakfast looks always different for me. Sometimes I have something warm and cooked and at other times I only go for a juice or smoothie. But what I really really love in the morning is a yummy granola breakfast with delicious fruits and some milk or yoghurt.
I have found some pretty amazing and organic granolas to buy but still, most of them are a little bit to sweet for me. And since I’m super crazy about all the self-made products, I simply made my own granola. It’s so easy to prepare and you can be super creative and throw in whatever you like to create your own favourite taste.
So here is one of my favorite creations. Try it out or do something totally different.
And don’t forget the most important ingredient: FUN!!!!
INGREDIENTS
4 cups rolled oats
1 cup walnut pieces (or whatever nuts and seeds you prefer)
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup chia seeds
1 cup shredded coconut
½ cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup coconut oil (melted)
1/3 cup maple syrup (or you can use honey or rice syrup)
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 160°C
Put the rolled oats, nuts & seeds and shredded coconut in a big bowl and stir.
Whisk together the cocoa powder, coconut oil and maple syrup in a smaller bowl and pour the mixture over the nuts and oats. Stir all ingredients well together!
Coat one large baking tray with a little bit of coconut oil and press the mixture into the tray.
Bake for about 10-15 minutes, stir well and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
Cool granola off completely!!!! before you can store it in an airtight container.
